Endometrial biopsy is a procedure that involves taking a tissue sampling of the endometrium (lining of the uterus). The tissue subsequently undergoes a histologic evaluation, which aids the Dr in forming a Dx.
Method
Pipelle is a flexible plastic tube with a side opening at the top
A smaller tube, the internal piston, inside the pipelle is withdrawn to create suction
The pipelle is rotated and movedoutwards from the fundus to the internal os to collect small pieces of endometrial tissue
