Lethal neurotoxin produced by a bacteria commonly found in soil. By injecting into muscles w/ minute quantities, by blocking the release of ACh from the neuron, there is decreased muscle activity. Thus, paralyzing facial muscles results in preventing the development of wrinkles. It is the most common cosmetic operation. The effect of Botox normally lasts 3-4 months, but can last up to 6 months.

Botox can also be used to treat spasms by weakening the involved muscle.
