Seborrheic dermatitis (aka dandruff) is a chronic, relapsing, usually mild dermatitis.

Cradle cap is a yellowish, patchy, greasy, scaly and crusty rash on the scalp of newborn babies, usually beginning some time in the first 3 months. It usually isn't itchy and doesn't bother the baby.

  • It usually presents as scalp scaling similar to dandruff, or as erythema of the nasolabial fold
Pathophysiology
  • It is an inflammatory skin disorder, affecting the scalp, face, and torso. It presents with scaly, flaky, itchy, red skin
  • It particularly affects sebaceous gland-rich areas
